In February 2018 Sotic unveiled a brand new multi-lingual match centre for the NatWest 6 Nations Championship.
Sotic has been working with Six Nations Rugby since 2008 and the new match centre has been built on Sotic’s super-charged version of the WordPress CMS.
It provides a vital hub for each of the 15 championship matches with the match overview, preview, report, related news and media, team and individual player statistics all just one click away.
Designed mobile-first, we have produced a fast site with a slick look and feel and an easy user journey for fans following championship matches while out and about, or those using it for a second screen experience and delving into some of the live team and player stats on offer with fully integrated feeds from statistics provider Opta.
Liveblogging brings a real in-stadium matchday flavour to the match centre from dawn til dusk during the live weekend and helps to celebrate and build the profile of each match weekend in the week leading up to it with team announcements and snippets of interest dropped onto the blog live.
Coupled with live images which are coming through to the site in real-time from pitch side tagged with player and fixture identifiers, and video from Six Nations Rugby’s partner YouTube, the match centre provides an all-round integrated experience.
Cloud-hosted on AWS the site is tooled up to easily deal with the traffic spikes that manifest around a typical championship weekend where there can be in excess of 40,000 unique users per minute during matches.
The site is available in three languages, English, French and Italian to cater for the multi-lingual demographic of the Championship’s audience and due to the way it is constructed, if the championship were to expand into further linguistic territories, the match centre could handle them with ease.
