Digital sports specialists Sotic have launched a brand new digital platform for this season’s European Challenge Cup finalists and long-time client Gloucester Rugby, who extended their contract with Sotic last summer.
The launch of the new responsive site, built on WordPress using the ‘Sotic Sports Theme’ was timed to coincide with an unveiling of a brand new brand identity for the West Country Club which included a new club logo.
Ensuring that the new website truly reflected the club’s new identity is the result of months of close collaboration between the teams at Sotic and Gloucester Rugby as both projects ran simultaneously.
Sotic’s Head of Digital Operations, Jonathan McConnell, attended the rebrand reveal to help manage the launch of the site from the club’s Kingsholm ground.
“Having extended our long-time partnership with Gloucester Rugby we were delighted to play a part in their rebranding project, ensure they had a completely new web platform to showcase the new brand and give Gloucester fans the best possible online experience,” said McConnell
Sotic have invested heavily over the past two years in developing our own bespoke ‘Sotic Sports Theme’ on WordPress and offer some of the most comprehensive sports website functionality available to clubs, governing bodies, international federations, league and tournament organisers.
The new website design is light, and in keeping with the new club brand offers a clean and simple user experience free from clutter with key calls to action highlighted.
Building Gloucester Rugby’s new website over to WordPress has allowed the club to access many new features. This includes the integration of JW Player, which makes the upload of videos to the site quick and easy, allowing Gloucester’s staff to be able to upload media to the site even during busy match periods.
This, in combination with an incredibly intuitive key feature to improve stats on the site, offers a much more engaging live ‘in game’ experience for users. The site is enhanced with real time stats, both from the teams and also individual players, and rich media from pitch side.
Helen Roe, Head of Marketing & Communications at Gloucester Rugby said;
“Sotic have been our website provider for several years now, and we sat down with them some months ago to discuss updating our current website.
We wanted to streamline our website, remove content that was outdated or not being accessed by users but also allow us to exploit its commercial potential more.
Sotic’s creative team came up with a variety of design options and, once we’d decided on an appropriate look and feel, the build and sign-off processes were quick and easy.
We’re delighted with the result – the layout is cleaner, quicker and easier to use, it’s more interactive and is designed to work on both desktop PCs as well as mobile devices which is where the majority of our traffic now comes from.
The 2017-18 season is just coming to an end, but we already feel that our online presence is ready for the new campaign.”
