World Sailing continue partnership with Sotic to launch Olympic website

World Sailing have further cemented their long-standing relationship with leading digital sports agency Sotic through the launch of tokyo2020.sailing.org, the International Federation’s website for the rescheduled 32nd Olympic Games in Tokyo later this year.
This will be the fourth Olympics and Paralympics where Sotic have partnered with World Sailing to meet the digital requirements of the biggest multidiscipline event in the sailing world.
The new site, which is built on AWS, harnesses the power of headless architecture by running the Nuxt.js front-end framework and using a WordPress Content Management System to deliver a powerful publishing platform with a feature rich experience. This gives World Sailing complete control, allowing for ease of updating and publishing by editors, and integrates fully with the delivery of statistics from the Games’ official data providers.
World Sailing first partnered with Sotic in 2007, and they became the first World Federation to deliver Olympic results directly to their users at the 2008 Games. Now, thanks to the latest technical implementations built by Sotic, the new site will present race updates and results directly to the international sailing Community within seconds.
“We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with World Sailing and to work with them as we did for the Games in Beijing, London and Rio,” said Sotic’s founder Leo MindelOur teams have delivered a fantastic looking and highly performant website which will showcase the sport in its blue riband event.

The site will deliver the full experience on any internet connected device from phone through to Smart TV and has been architected to ensure it can meet the traffic demands which have historically seen World Sailing receive more visits in the four weeks of the Olympics and Paralympics than they receive for the rest of the year.
Daniel Smith, World Sailing’s Director of Communications and Digital said, “The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Sailing Competition is fast approaching. Sailing and sports fans will watch and follow the sport in their millions, and it is important we have a platform to showcase our athletes, their stories and competition information that everyone expects. World Sailing’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic website will enable us to do exactly that, and it also marks an important first step on redefining our digital footprint with Sotic.
