How Wales Rally GB overhauled its digital presence with new platform from Sotic

While fans and spectators gear up for the Wales Rally GB this October, Team Sotic has been busy working on the new digital platform for our client, Motorsport UK which organises the UK round of the FIA World Rally Championship. Our relationship with Wales Rally GB has been a long and successful one having first teamed up in 2007. Fast forward 12 years, their digital platform has undergone an overhaul with the third design and build iteration which has just been unveiled.

Fans and spectators may have noticed a few things different this time around. With a rebrand, sporting a fresh new logo, and relocation of the rally Service Park from Deeside to Llandudno, there is a lot to look forward to this Autumn, not the least the sheer excitement the event brings every year, with this year promising to be even bigger still.

Sotic has worked closely with the Rally organisers to ensure a smooth transition. The new site is built on the groundbreaking Sotic Sport framework, powered by WordPress CMS and hosted in the cloud with our partner Amazon Web Services (AWS); the same platform that has hosted websites for our other high profile clients Guinness Six Nations, Aberdeen FC and Tour Series to name a few. Furthermore, fans can expect quick navigation with speeds that pay homage to the sport itself. The mobile-first designed site is bound to thrill fans who are following the action on the roads of north Wales with updates and intuitive navigation.

Taking on board the feedback provided by fans and spectators, the platform now offers new ways of interacting with the content and browsing through different sections seamlessly. Users will be able to enjoy easy access to rally information such as stages, days and times with the option to purchase event tickets in just a few clicks. The site also does well to seamlessly integrate corporate partnership, sponsorship and press resources without taking away from the overall user experience; a sure way to facilitate engagement and revenues on the new platform.

Helen Waight, Events Marketing and Communications Manager said “We have always been greatly impressed with Sotic’s expertise and although the stakes were higher this time around with our rebrand, the Sotic team has again delivered. We’ve had a very smooth transition to a stunning new platform which is faster and easier to navigate, with our fans and corporate partners reacting favourably to the new website.”

With 17 years of experience in using innovative technology to deliver high-traffic feature-rich websites, Sotic is a market leader in digital sport. This hasn’t gone unnoticed as we have recently been shortlisted for two Welsh awards namely; Creative and Digital Business of the Year 2019 at the Cardiff Business Awards – 2018 winners – and Best Digital Agency at the Wales Online Digital Awards. We are particularly honoured to work with other Wales-based organisations.
