In total, 20 clubs from Gallagher Premiership Rugby, the Guinness PRO14 and the TOP 14 have qualified for the Heineken Champions Cup, but the live draw will divide these clubs up into four tiers of five.

A preliminary draw will be conducted to establish Tier 1 with two of the three second-ranked clubs- Exeter Chiefs, Scarlets and Montpellier- who will join Champions Cup and PRO14 winners, Leinster, Premiership winners, Saracens, and TOP 14 winners, Castres, in the top tier.

Once Tier 1 has been established, the remaining three tiers will fall into place, completing the five pools of four clubs each.

The live pool draw will then move onto the Challenge Cup which will see Sale Sharks, Benetton Rugby and La Rochelle all take their confirmed places in Tier 1.

Round 1 will commence on the 12th October with the 2019 Newcastle Challenge Cup Final being held on Friday 10th May at St James’ Park and the Heineken Champions Cup final on Saturday 11th May also at St James’ Park.
