Rio 2016
Less than 200 days to the Rio Olympics

by | Jan 19, 2016

You’ll find yourself totally transfixed and momentarily expert in sports that ordinarily you don’t follow and would never see on television .. Greco-Roman Wrestling, Synchronized Swimming, Trampolining, Modern Pentathalon and Rhythmic Gymnastics to name a few.

Yes, today marks less than 200 days to the start of the Rio Olympics on 5th August so with that in mind we asked a few of the Sotic staff what they’re most looking forward to (ahem .. apart from the 3 weeks off that John and Leo will give us so we don’t miss anything!) Overwhelmingly, we want to see a clean games. Recent doping allegations, particularly those engulfing Athletics have not set the tone we would have hoped for in an Olympic year, or indeed any year.

Naomi is looking forward to never being stuck for something to watch on TV, even though her first sporting love, Formula 1, is not an Olympic Sport. She is also looking forward to remembering how great London 2012 was.

Jonathan is looking forward to seeing Rory McIlroy winning the first golf gold, Mark Cavendish finally getting an Olympic medal in the cycling and Mo doing the quadruple double however he feels for the sailors who will have to try to avoid capsizing in the highly polluted waters in Guanabara Bay.

Roly will be glued to the Rugby Sevens, “I love this sport and there have been some really good games for Wales in the Commonwealth version so I’m hoping Team GB do as well”

Sotic is digital provider to World Sailing, GB Archery and GB Basketball and will be supporting them in the lead up to and throughout the 2016 Olympic Games.
